Get Ready For Cookout Season

March 2005 IBEW Journal

Those not fortunate enough to live in Florida or Hawaii or other sunny spots are looking forward to warm weather. And that means its almost time to fire up those outdoor grills again.

What better way to get ready for barbecue season than with "A Taste of the IBEW," the cookbook for all seasons, and a spiffy denim chefs apron embossed with the IBEW logo and the tools of the trade?

These items were developed as a fund-raising effort by the IBEWs Fourth District for the upcoming 37th IBEW International Convention in 2006 in Cleveland, Ohio. The cookbook has more than 915 recipes submitted by IBEW members, officers, staff and friends and family members. The volume includes mouth-watering recipes for everything from appetizers, soups, salads and breads to main dishes, vegetables and desserts, as well as preparation and serving suggestions. Theres even a couple of recipes for the family dog. The chefs apron is also sure to be a popular item, especially for the man or woman who wields the cooking tools.

Traditionally, the Vice Presidential district that hosts the convention raises money to help offset some of the costs associated with such a massive gathering. The cookbook and apron represent an innovative way to raise funds, while offering items that will have a place in any IBEW household.

Use the form to order your items today. Please remember that every dollar counts, so members and staff are encouraged to coordinate their orders so that books and aprons can be shipped in bulk to a local union or IBEW office for distribution. Individual orders, of course, will be shipped wherever the buyer wishes.

Good eating!
