PECO Units Organized

November 2004 IBEW Journal

A historic organizing victory took place at Exelon/PECO in June 2003 when a unit of nearly 300 fossil fuel generation workers at the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, utility voted for IBEW representation. (See "IBEW Wins Historic PECO Election," IBEW Journal, July/August 2003, page 2.)

A second major win for Exelon/PECO employees was secured earlier this year.

Approximately 1,100 workers employed in PECOs energy transmission and distribution unit voted overwhelmingly in July 2004 for IBEW representationjoining their counterparts at Exelon Fossil as members of newly formed IBEW Local 614, based in the Philadelphia area. (For a report on the 2004 victory, read "IBEW Wins Big at PECO Again!")

Exelon Utility Coordination Council chairman is Nick Citta, Local 15 senior assistant business manger. Representatives of the following IBEW local unions comprise the council: Local 15, Downers Grove, Illinois; Local 777, Reading, Pennsylvania; Local 1289, Lakewood, New Jersey; Local 51, Springfield, Illinois; Local 1306, Decatur, Illinois; and Local 614.
