November 2004 IBEW Journal RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 606, ORLANDO, FLWith the generous support of Local 606, OLMCC and Olson Electric this year, the retirees have enjoyed their monthly meetings and get-togethers. At the last meeting of the year before summer break, Bro. Tony Sokolowski received his 55-year IBEW membership pin, presented by Retirees Club Pres. Bob Hamburg. We encourage all IBEW retirees to join the club. Luncheon meetings are held once a month, except June, July and August. If interested, please call Bob Hamburg or the Credit Union at the union hall for more information. Janet D. Skipper, P.S. RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 654, CHESTER, PAWe welcome the Philadelphia Electric employees to the IBEW. Congratulations. After reading some of the "Letters to the Editor" [about the November election] in previous Journals, and appreciating everyone having their opinion, I just wonder about some of the letter writers. Do they realize how fortunate they are to belong to a union? Its not flawless, but appreciate what we have and strive to make it better. If you are going to bitch, do you vote? When you vote do you think beforehand, or just go by the paid political sound bites. We cannot afford to be one-issue voters. I hope for the sake of every union worker that George W. Bush gets handed a road map back to Texas. Otherwise, it would not be just four more yearswe would face four more Bush league long, hard, lean years. Before you vote, think about national "right-to-work" laws. T. Francis "Jeep" Hanley |
