Annual Picnic

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 3, NEW YORK, NY, SUFFOLK CHAPTEROn Aug. 9 we had our annual picnic. It was a great outing with horseshoes, bocci, plenty of food, good weather and good friends, everyone had a good time. A special thanks to Ed Scalice and his committee for making the event possible, and to Don Jarvis and Bud Teese for reserving the site.

At our Sept. 13 meeting we were honored to have Local 3 Pres. John Marchell address the membership.

For those of you who care, please send George W. Bush information on how to sign up for unemployment effective Jan. 21, as we hope he will be looking for work after the November election.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 38, CLEVELAND, OHThe Local 38 Retirees Club was founded in 1974 with 12 members. Now we have 225 members.

Pres. Ken Lipstreu and his Executive Board completed a successful two-year term. During his administration members enjoyed many activities planned by our Tour Director Harry Finkler. Well-guided toursto historic Philadelphia and the New England area, Christmas trips to Frankenmuth, MI, and Ogelbay, WVhave been definite highlights on our calendar. Casino trips to Indiana, Michigan, Connecticut and Canada have kept the retirees busy and lucky.

Thanks to the many chairmen who assumed responsibility for our annual corned beef and cabbage dinner, breakfast brunch meeting, chicken dinner and the annual August picnic, featuring delicious potluck food prepared by the members. An elegant 2003 Christmas dinner party was planned by Lowell and Carol Greene and Bob and Kitti Dorenkott. Several charitable donations were given to worthwhile causes to help those in need, including help for our own young, disabled wiremen.
