Boise Retirees Meet

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 291, BOISE, IDThe September meeting of the retirees was held at the home of Lynn and Stan Brassfield.

Members brought side dishes and our host Stan was chief cook (burgers and hot dogs). Everything was delicious. Attending for the local union were Bus. Mgr. Marc Bernsen and Dawn Walsh, secretary. The Brassfields residence was so neat that several of us threatened to move in. Marc Bernsen spoke to the group about retirement plans, health insurance and dental plans. The door prize was won by Duane Ferguson.

At the time of this writing, we were looking forward to our Oct. 14 meeting at Sizzlers located at 459 N. Cole Road.

Mountain River Ranch

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 449, POCATELLO, IDLocal 449 retirees meet in Blackfoot at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Our August meeting was followed by a picnic at Airport Park. The club bought the chicken and the members supplied the rest of the delicious meal. Those attending enjoyed the food and fellowship.

On Sept. 10 we enjoyed a trip to Mountain River Ranch. That outing included a gunfight in the "OK Corral" style, followed by a hayride through the meadows to the theatre complex. After a meal of chicken or steak, we saw a theatrical drama complete with a hero and a villain.

Plans are under way for a trip to Jackpot, NV, sometime this fall.

All IBEW 449 retirees are invited to attend our meetings and share in our good times.

New Club Organized

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 479, BEAUMONT, TXWe just recently organized a new club after many years without one. At our June meeting bylaws were passed and officers were elected. In July we had a speaker to discuss our Seventh District health insurance plan. Afterward, all in attendance enjoyed a catfish lunch.

Elected officers are Pres. Harold Broussard, Vice Pres. John Richardson and Sec. Tres. Leon Hastings. Executive Board members: Tiny Martin (chairman), Buck Brookshire, Art Crabtree, Norman Elmore, John Ford and Evertt Lockhart. Congratulations to these brothers on their election.

Judy Reinholt, Mary Broussard and Mary Hastings were appointed to the Hostess Committee by Pres. Broussard. A special lunch will be served at our monthly meetings. We have time for reminiscing and brotherhood during this time.

We invite all IBEW retirees to join us the first Tuesday of each month at the Local 479 union hall at 11 a.m. Our next meeting we will honor a 60-year member.

We hope to see you all at the next retirees meeting.

Leon Hastings, P.S.

presented by Bro. Lance
Blackstock, then-business
manager.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 558, SHEFFIELD, ALOur retirees turned out in force to lend their support for the 2004 Labor Day rally and helped make it a great success. Thanks to all who came out and helped. Retirees Club Pres. Tommy Whitfield recently also did the honor of swearing in all the new officers at the local.

Preparations are under way for our clubs annual Christmas get-together. Everyone has a grand time at this annual holiday function. Please make your plans to attend this year. What a fun time you can have celebrating the season with your fellow retirees and talking about those "work days." For information you may contact Bro. Tommy Whitfield.

Our prayers and sympathies go out to the families of retired members we have lost this year. Each and every one made special contributions to this local and will always be remembered.

Congratulations to retired Bro. Robert "Boone" Davidson on receiving his 70-year service award (see photo). Also, congrats to my dad, Local 558 member Tommy Pruitt, on his retirement in August.

Ottawa Club Activities

Local 586 Retirees Club members enjoyed a Thousand
Islands boat cruise on the St. Lawrence River in July.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 586, OTTAWA, ON, CANADAGreetings from Canadas capital. Our club has been very active since reorganization a few years ago, and participation from the retirees has been overwhelming. Club activities have included out-of-town day trips by bus, luncheons, baseball games with barbeques, casino excursions, steam train rides into the Gatineau Hills and, recently, a three-hour boat cruise through the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River.

Local 586 honoured retirees on the occasion of its 75th anniversary and presented each retiree a specially designed wristwatch and a windbreaker. Our thanks to the local.

Also this year, four members received 55-year pins: Gordon Bowes, Cecil Cameron, William May and Alex Mucha. Four others received 50-year pins: Rudy Faktor, Henry Legault, Henry Murphy and Bill Warchow. Congratulations to these veterans.

In September retires and their spouses enjoyed a day trip by bus to Mont Tremblant in the Laurentian Mountains to view the fall foliage, have lunch en route and spend the day at the majestic ski resort.

We lost three members this past year: Louis "Henri" Ethier, Bernie Bauer and Thomas "Tommy" Hunt. Our condolences go out to their families.

-William Warchow, Sec.-Treas.
