TO: ALL IBEW LOCAL UNION BUSINESS MANAGERS AND PRESS
       SECRETARIES

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Enclosed is a copy of the 2008 “Press Secretary Guidelines” and deadlines for local union submission of articles for the “Local Lines” section of The Electrical Worker.

I thank the press secretaries for their continued cooperation of the 200-word limit for “Local Lines” articles.  Because of space limitations, please adhere to that guideline.

In terms of content, every effort is made to accommodate all locals by publishing useful and relevant local union news; however, all final decisions will be based on the editor’s judgment.  As it has been in past practice, all or some of your “Local Lines” submissions may be placed in other sections of the newspaper.

Periodically, information for the press secretaries is printed on the first page of “Local Lines.”  Please check this area in each issue.

If you have a suggestion for a feature article for the Journal or The Electrical Worker, please contact the director of the Journal and Media Relations Department, Jim Spellane, by any of the methods listed in the guidelines.

If you misplace your deadline schedule, the information can be obtained on the IBEW Web site (www.ibew.org), or by contacting the Journal and Media Relations Department for a replacement copy.

     Season’s Greetings!

                                                            Fraternally yours,

                                                            Edwin D. Hill
                                                            International President
