Sportsmen’s Group Starting Summer With a Bang

June 9, 2009

The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance is kicking off the summer season with its Inaugural Sporting Clays Shoot on June 18 at the Prince George’s County Trap and Skeet Center in Glenn Dale, Md.

Union members are invited to take part in the sport sometimes described as “golf with a shotgun.”  Participants aim and fire at clay targets under conditions that closely resemble actual hunting.

Proceeds from the event will go to the U.S.A. and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. Both groups work to guarantee all Americans a place to hunt, fish and shoot.

Instruction for beginners and registration starts at 8 a.m. with the shoot starting at 9:30 a.m.  The cost for individual shooters is $175, including lunch. A raffle and Beretta Pro staff exhibition will follow. Awards will be presented to the highest-scoring teams and individuals. The competition is open to anyone who wants to support the cause.
