AT&T Negotiations Update

November 30, 2005

The company and unions met yesterday.  The unions presented proposals on emerging and evolving technologies, ATTOP and transferring within the new company.  The company again stated that their major issue is retiree health care costs and that for every active employee there are three retirees.  This is in contrast to the former SBC which has a one-to-one ratio of active to retiree.  The company was unable to respond to the union’s proposal for job security, asking for more time for the new company to understand the request.

Negotiations are scheduled to continue this morning.
