Update on Changes

Local 322 Outside Organizer Bruce Buckner swears
in newly organized local union members employed
by outside contractor SchulteTA, Inc.

L.U. 322 (govt,i,lctt,o&u), CASPER, WYLocal 322 has seen a lot of changes in the past year. Rick Oakland, former business manager, has moved on to the International Office Construction and Maintenance Department. Chris Morgan was appointed business manager. Garry Nettik is still the assistant business manager/organizer and Scott DeGroot was hired as an organizer working out of the Casper office. Rocky Anderson, former local union president, was hired as the training director and T.J. Woods, former E-Board chair and local president, was hired as day school instructor.

With the help of Outside Organizer Coordinator Bruce Buckner, the local has been successful in organizing two new outside contractors, SchulteTA, Inc. and Short Powerline Service.

Congratulation to this years 15 graduates of the Inside Apprenticeship Program Lucas Becker, Richard Beld, Brain Chamberlain, Michael Cook, Jason Edwards, Ira Fischer, Jareb Goodrich, John Hokanson, Nathan Kysar, Marc Littell, Ron Martin, Jerod Pesek, Gabe Ragsdale, Chris Sutherland, Matt Talbott. Congratulations to these men and their families.

Terry Tanner Retires

L.U. 332 (c,ees,i,o&st), SAN JOSE, CAThere have been many changes around our office lately. After five years as business manager, Terry Tanner has retired. Terry can be proud of all his accomplishments: new contracts, expanded membership, bigger roles for women and S&C members and most especially, our beautiful, new union hall. It has become a model in the city of San Jose for how to build "green" buildings.

Also retiring is Pete Reyes, a business agent for four years. Pete has been active as long as hes been a member. He understands what the union does for its members and always gave back with his service.

By a unanimous vote of the Executive Board, Asst. Bus. Mgr. Robert Tragni was elected to serve out Terrys term as business manager. Bro. Tragnis position was filled by Jay James. This created an opening on the staff and Dick Perez was appointed as a business agent. These men will do a great job. Congratulations to all!

The work situation has improved this summer because of all the school construction work. About 200 inside wiremen are on the out-of-work list. But, once school starts, work may slow down again. As long as the high tech industry is in a slump, so are we.

Dont forget about the upcoming state certification exam. Drop in on any Saturday for classes at the Electrical Training Center.

We will be working hard to defeat the recall of Gov. Davis. He has done a lot of good for working people and deserves to serve his term. Contact the hall to see how you can help.

Opportunities Scarce

L.U. 364 (catv, ees,em,es,i,mt,rts& spa), ROCKFORD, ILLocal 364 families recently came together for our annual membership picnic held at our halls grounds. Bro. Ray Pendzinski once again coordinated the event and everybody had a great time as always.

Work in our area and in surrounding locals, as seems to be the case most everywhere, has been very slow and employment opportunities for our members as a result, remain scarce.

Local 364 recently established a Supplementary Unemployment Benefit fund so that in the future, members who might be hit unexpectedly hard by unforeseen negative economic times might have a bit of a social safety net if they need it.

We need to oust the current occupants of the White House, get our economy rolling again, and get everybody back to work.

Ray Pendzinski, P.S.

Newly Elected Officers

L.U. 380 (ei,es,i&it), NORRISTOWN, PAAt our July 22 local union meeting, past Pres. Ira Robbins swore in the newly elected officers. They are as follows: Pres. Boe Lawless, Vice Pres. Dave Schaaf, Rec. Sec. Roger Day, Treas. John Porco, Bus. Mgr./Fin. Sec. Kenneth R. MacDougall, Executive Board members Tom Friel, Chris Gratton and Dennis Wolfgang. Examining Board members Richard Gibson, Bill LaFountain and Ken McLaughlin.

Afterwards, Ken MacDougall thanked former Bus. Mgr. Tony McCafferty for all he has done. Ken also outlined his future plans for the local.

The last few months have seen the passing of five of our local brothers: Tom McClure, Sr., Ed McKeever, Tim Smith, Larry Sopko and Jason Cirafisi. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of these fine men. Jason Cirafisis sudden death was especially tough news, because Jason was in his third year of apprenticeship and was a top-notch apprentice, both in school and on the job and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Scott R. Sheldon, P.S.
