Rice and Sabol are shown in the photo with a clock Rice presented to the local. The lower portion of the clock features name plates recognizing Bus. Mgr./Fin. Sec. Fred Sabol, Pres. Chris Mohr, Vice Pres. Bill Barton, Treas. Neal Fisher and Rec. Sec. Barbara Moore. The back of the clock has the IBEW logo and an area for nameplates recognizing past officers.

Rice also presented a plaque recognizing Executive Board members Allen Austin, Mike Bower, John Eisenhauer, Roy Mason, Heather Schaefer, Margaret Seeley and Sean Vincent. Both the clock and the Executive Board plaque were made by Rice from wood originally used in the Bowling Green, OH, operator switchboard that closed in 1984.

Hard Fought Contracts
L.U. 1076 (as,em,mar,mt,rts,s& spa), TOLEDO, OHToledos 2002 Labor Day parade once again showed the strength of unions in our area. Local 1076 members and families had over 100 participants and nine vehicles in the parade. Following the parade a picnic lunch was held at the hall, with games for the children. Thanks to all our volunteers and participants.

Bus. Mgr. Dave Austin and his staff have been very busy over the summer. Negotiations have been tough, but we have made big financial gains. At Torrence Sound and Marathon Special Products, we negotiated increases of 3 percent for each of the next three years. Our members at the service department at Sears Roebuck ratified perhaps their biggest increases. Increases for technicians at the top of the scale will receive $1 for each of the next three years. Techs still in progression received an increase up to 13 percent a year for the next three years. On top of that, all received a $1,500 signing bonus and the elimination of the flex-full-time language. Now all techs enjoy the benefits of being full-time regular employees. These victories are only possible because of strong union members at our shops. Congratulations on those hard fought contracts!

Parading Our Unity

Local 1116, Tucson, AZ, Bro. Pat Smith finds a good spot
to ride on one of the TEP line trucks driven in the Southern
Arizona Labor Day parade.

L.U. 1116 (em,lctt&u), TUCSON, AZMembers and their families participated in the annual Southern Arizona Labor Day parade. Special thanks to Bros. John Poels and Milton Duffield who drove the TEP line trucks and to Bro. Jeff Martin who helped organize the event. Thanks also to Bro. Lonnie Pugh, who provided water for parade participants. This parade grows larger each year and shows a real sense of unity among the labor unions. After the parade, all enjoyed a big barbeque. This is a good time for brothers and sisters to show their children what it means to be union members, and we thank all who participated.

On a sad note, we mourn the passing of Sister Terry Gilmore and Bros. John DeSpain, Gary Peterson and Ed Millane. Local 1116 extends condolences to their families and friends. They will be greatly missed.

friends at the Fifth Annual Family Picnic.

L.U. 1464 (u), KANSAS CITY, MOWe thank our members and the members of sister Locals 412 and 1613 for the great success of our Fifth Annual Family Picnic held in August. We had food, fun, games, race cars, face painting, door prizes, Blue Bunny ice cream and bucket truck rides. It would not have been possible without the dedication of the Joint Activities Committee.

Congratulations to Local 1464s softball team for winning second place in the Local 545 Annual Softball Tournament held in St. Joseph, MO.

A moment of silence was held in honor of our brothers, sisters and others whose lives were lost at the hands of terrorists on September 11.

We are entering negotiations for our contract, which will expire on January 31, 2003. Many of our issues are common to most of you.

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Bros. Rod Boettcher and Allen Cherry, who passed away this year from injuries received on the job. Our condolences to their families and friends.
