
| November 2002 IBEW Journal Interesting Speakers Interesting speakers at our meetings this past year included our own Tom Neville on the ultimate battle award, the Medal of Honor. A representative from the FBI spoke on the war on terrorism, Keystone Triple "A" spoke on safe driving, and the local business office kept us informed on the day-to-day operations. In June we took a tour of the battleship New Jersey moored on the waterfront. Thanks to Ray McCool for chairing the event. Congratulations to Bus. Mgr. John Dougherty and his team of officers on their June election. Thanks to George Sanders for representing us at the Philadelphia Building Trades. Thanks also to Barbara Wolf for organizing our trips during the year, especially the Las Vegas trip in October. Bill Stade, R.S. A Class Event We also want to congratulate and wish good luck to Local 99 Bus. Mgr. Al Durand and all the newly elected officers. RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 103, BOSTON, MAFollowing a delightful summer during which the retirees devoured pounds of New England lobster at our luncheons and tours, we are turning our endeavors to fall foliage, casino vacations and New York shopping and show tours. It takes retiree participationso let us hear from you! A tip of the cap to Retirees Club Treas. Tony Calvino for doing a great job as our entertainment director. Practically every new idea for fraternity comes from Tony. He is a 40-year member and until his retirement owned C&J Electric Co. Another tip of the cap goes to Union Caterers, who cater all our luncheons at a very reasonable cost. In September Local 103 sent a delegation from the Retirees Club to the Alliance for Retired Americans Conference in Washington, DC. We were also present at the Annual Retirement Dinner at which 140 new retirees were honored. Another tip of the cap to the trustees and members who tendered the retirees a 3 percent COLA increase during the most difficult pension investment period. See you all at the next luncheon. RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 124, KANSAS CITY, MOFormer Bus. Mgr. Lindell Lee was recently honored at the retirees quarterly luncheon, with 103 members and guests attending. Retiree Club Pres. Joe Hoge presented Lindell with a plaque and a $100 gift certificate from Cabelas in appreciation for his dedication and years of service to Local 124. Bro. Lee served nine years as business manager (19932002). Sixteen retired members demonstrated their knowledge of the trade to a new generation of electricians by judging this years VICA Competition. RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 130, NEW ORLEANS, LATen members with five consecutive dues paying years in the Retirees Club and 60 active service years in Local 130 received IBEW watches at our June meeting. They are Bros. Oldgen Bosch, John S. Bowers, Benjamin Casanovas, Ralph Fox, Alvin Gisevius, Alden Marrero, Edward Newman, Jo Sanchez, Warren Seher and George Tavan. New club members with 60 active service years are Bros. George Blanchard, Edward Caire, John Mangiaracina and Al Saltarrelli. They will receive IBEW watches in the near future. Congratulations to all. Special congratulations to Bro. Ed Hartley, who recently received his 75-year service award.Our Christmas dinner party is set for Wednesday, December 11 for members and a guest at 3:30 p.m. in the Alexander Room.
