An Election First
L.U. 349 (em,i,mps, rtb, spa&u), MIAMI, FLWe had nomination of officers in May, and for the first time in local history all current officers ran unopposed in the recent election. The new officers are Welfare Board members Robert Brumfield and John Pearce and Examining Board member Steve Rosean.

At this writing, our work picture is slow. There is a chance that work will pick up after negotiations.

Our Organizing Department needs help from time to time. When help is needed, please give them a hand.

Just remember in a vision nothing happens unless first a dream.

organizing percentage.

L.U. 413 (em,i&o), SANTA BARBARA, CACongratulations to Bus. Mgr. Joe Furino and our organizing staff, who were awarded the top award at the Ninth District Progress meeting for the highest percentage organized in 2001. We also gained the Ninth District Honorable Mention Award for 2001 for having 77 percent of our members complete COMET training, along with the COPE Outstanding Achievement award. We are proud of Organizers Steve Lopez, Tim Bennett and Bus. Mgr. Furino for a job well done.

The organizing effort and political action have contributed greatly to the relatively full employment we have enjoyed the past 12 months, and it bodes well for the near future.

The labor movement has made great strides under our Governor Gray Davis. We must get all our members and their families registered to vote and voting to see he is re-elected in November.

Local elections were held in July. Congratulations to Bus. Mrg./Fin. Sec. Joe Furino, Pres. Chuck Huddleston, Vice Pres. Casey Mahoney, Rec. Sec. Vicki Rugg and Treas. Jon Paola. The Executive Board members are Don Hay, Tony Indendi, Jim Pellamounter, Dave Poorbaugh and Karen Signorelli.
