L.U. 223 (em,govt&i), BROCKTON, MAHope everyone had a great summer. The local formally celebrated its 100th Anniversary with a gala dinner dance at the Venus de Milo on April 27. There were about 600 members, guests and dignitaries present to help us celebrate. The evening was highlighted by the Local 103, Boston, MA, Bagpiper Band. Special thanks to everyone who helped with this successful anniversary celebration.

Elections were held in June, and the following candidates were successful: Bus. Mgr./Fin. Sec. Timothy Cayton, Treas. David Fenton, Pres. Robert Revil, Vice Pres. Eric Caya, Rec. Sec. William Mellon and Executive Board members Edward Cayton, III, Francis M. Welch, Joe Revil, Scott Ramsay, David Campbell, Brian Hubert, David Amaral and Robert Lavangie. Congratulations to all.

At this writing, our work picture has slowed somewhat, but there is work in the area. We have signed a new contractor, LeBlanc Electric from Cape Cod.

Clinton Library
L.U. 295 (em,i,o,rtb, rts, spa&u), LITTLE ROCK, ARAt this writing, your Negotiating Committee is hard at work, and by the time you read this we should have a new agreement.

The Pine Bluff Arsenal project is laying off, with scheduled completion in September. Work in town is currently slow. Construction on the William J. Clinton Presidential Library project has begun. Peak manpower should be mid to late next year. It is expected that this project will bring a construction boom to both sides of the river walk. We intend to make every effort to secure our part of this work.

Bobby Thornton, Asst. Bus. Mgr./Organizer

100th Anniversary
L.U. 309 (i,lctt,mo,o,rts, spa&u), COLLINSVILLE, ILWe will be celebrating our 100th anniversary on Sept. 28, 2002, with a dinner dance at the Collinsville Convention Center. Originally chartered in East St. Louis, IL, on Sept. 11, 1902, Local 309 has a long and proud history of furthering the union cause on the "East Side," the historic industrial heart of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

U.S. Representative Jerry Costello, a stalwart friend of labor, is expected to be the keynote speaker. Thanks to all committee members, especially retired members and spouses, for all the hard work in preparation for this event.

Local elections were held in June and we congratulate newly elected Bus. Mgr./Fin. Sec. Jim Berger, officers and committee members. Please see our Web site at ibew309.org for a complete listing.

In the work picture, we are holding our own. Aggressive organizing in both new and existing industries has enlarged our membership and increased union share of key markets including a "comeback" in residential wiring and a reassessing of opportunities in that market.

Mike Faust, P.S.
