Camp Pretty Lake
L.U. 131 (i,rtb, rts&spa), KALAMAZOO, MIMembers recently volunteered to do some renovations at Camp Pretty Lake, a summer camp for under-privileged children in the Kalamazoo area. I would like to personally thank Bro. Jeff Ouding and all the other brothers and sisters who gave of their time.

These are trying times, with rising health care costs, losses in the pension plan, job shortages, and the failure of corporate America to be held accountable for untrustworthy actions.

The local sends condolences to the families of Bros. Bob Gatwood and Bob Remeur, who passed away.

New Hummer Plant
L.U. 153 (em,i,rtb, rts,se,spa&st), SOUTH BEND, INLets have a big round of applause to all the members who helped to raise the new Hummer II plant out of the ground. At its peak we had over 170 local members and travelers working at the plant. It was a challenge, but we brought it in on time.

Congratulations to the apprentice graduating class of 2002. Bro. Jason Geans was named Apprentice of the Year and Bro. Robert Gloria was named outstanding teledata apprentice. Good job, guys! Best of luck to the incoming class of 2007. Graduation seems a long way off, but it does go by fast.

The St. Joseph Generating Facility in New Carlisle, IN, has broken ground and should be manning up in the fall. The casino in New Buffalo, MI, is still tied up in the courts, with no word yet on a start date. The Co-Gen in Niles, MI, is in a hold pattern.

The votes have been cast and tabulated, and Id like to take this opportunity to say to all the candidates and their supporters that now is the time to reunite and remember that our members and this local union is whats most important."

Pres. Russell Harper thanked everyone for voting and had a special note of thanks for our Election Judge, Bro.
