The Membership Development Department:

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Membership Development Department is committed to improving the lives of North America’s electrical workers and their families.  With more than 700,000 members, the IBEW is among the world’s strongest labor organizations, representing workers in a range of skilled occupations in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government.  The Brotherhood has members in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Panama Canal Zone, Guam and Saipan.

Built on the principles of family, fairness, justice and equality, the IBEW reflects the fact that union members enjoy superior wages and benefits for their abilities. For these reasons, the IBEW Membership Development Department is dedicated to advancing the legacy of our founders: joining North America’s electrical workers in a common organization to make a better life for all.

“Only a fool would try to deprive working men and working women of their right to join the union of their choice.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Our Mission
To organize all workers in the entire electrical industry in the United States and Canada, including all those in the electrical construction trades, utilities, telecommunications, electrical manufacturing, government, railroads and broadcasting.

Strength in Unity
Whether you are a professional or blue collar employee, the IBEW has experience in organizing and representing workers in your career.  As a member of the IBEW, you can negotiate with your employer for better wages and benefits, fair treatment, a safe working environment and a harassment-free workplace.
Through our union we achieve a strong voice, one that cannot be easily dismissed by management.
